  • General Manager
    October 1993 - March 1998

Tasks: As General Manager of Canterbury Student Broadcasting Limited, I was responsible to the board of directors for all financial planning and control, personnel (employment, training and performance management), strategic planning, innovation and day to day operations.

CSBL operated "rdu", the Christchurch member of "b.net"; the NZ Student Radio Network; "Volume Magazine", a free Christchurch community and culture publication and the "alternate" website.

In the four years of my tenure at CSBL, the company:
    • Showed a continued operating surplus (subsidy-free for the first time in it's 23 years of existence)
    • Increased it's total turnover by 100%
    • Established many new projects and initiatives including the highly successful U-Card radio subscriber card, Volume Magazine, alternate website and Hifibre local music CD compilation.
In this time I was instrumental in the establishment of the b.net as a market brand and as a modern radio networking concept.
